Charles "Charlie" S. Brooks, 97, of Beech Grove, passed away November 7, 2020.  He was born November 27, 1922 in Vineland, New Jersey to the lay Charlie and May Brooks.

He married Marcella (Krauth) Brooks who preceded him in death in 1998.  He went into the Army in 1940.  Charlie was a paratrooper in the 17th Airborn Division.  His division was involved in Operation Varsity in 1945 in Germany.  After discharge he was employed in various occupations.  He retired from the pest control business.  Charlie was a proud member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and Eagles, all in Beech Grove.

Charlie is survived by nephews, Ronald (Kim) Brooks and Steve (Marnita Mills) Brooks; 5 great nieces and 3 great nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Marcella, Charlie was preceded in death by siblings, Ronald Brooks and Beverly Spencer.

There will be a graveside service with Military Honors on Saturday, November 14 at 1:00pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.  Charlie asked there be no flowers and memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society:  www.cancer.org.
