Charles E. "Eddie" Smith, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away July 7, 2014. The son of Charlie T. and Mary M. Finley Smith, Eddie was born October 20, 1935 in Arthur, Illinois.

A baker, he retired from Wonder Bread in 1992 after 21 years of service. Previously, he owned a movie theatre in Arthur, Illinois. Eddie was a member of Southwood Baptist Church in Beech Grove and enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gracie P. (Honaker) Smith of Indianapolis; daughter, Deborah (Mike) Nicoson of Indianapolis; stepson, David (Crystal) Lawson of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Devin and Ashley Nicoson, both of Indianapolis. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Harold Postalwaite.

Rev. Kevin Bryant will officiate at funeral services 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Southwood Baptist Church - 501 South 4th Avenue, Beech Grove, where visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to time of service. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood assisting with arrangements.
