Charles Ray Horton Sr., Whiteland, IN, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024. He was 78 years old. Charles was born in Greenwood, IN to his parents Robert Horton and Alma Frances. He graduated from Center Grove High School. Charles married his wife, Rose Hone, on September 29, 1987, and together they shared 38 years of marriage together.
Charles worked as a truck driver for A&R Trucking, Holland Trucking and NAPA Auto parts and retired in 2022 after 28 years of service. Charles was a religious man who was a member of the Pentacostal faith. Charles enjoyed being a member of the Oldsmobile Club alongside his wife; he enjoyed attending many car shows and car auctions whilst a member of the club. Charles enjoyed watching TV and was known to be a food lover all his life. He loved to spend time with his beloved family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Charles is survived by his wife, Rose Horton; his children, Jeff (Kim) Horton, Jenny (Tom) Horton, Wendy (Dana) Ritchie, Kelly (Kim) Metzner, and Michael (Charlotte) Nolan; his several grandchildren; his several great grandchildren; his several great great grandchildren; his siblings, Dave Horton, and Jim Horton; his several nieces and nephews.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Charles "Bub" Horton Jr.; his siblings, Robert "Robbie" Horton, George Thomas Horton, and Gene Horton.
A visitation for Charles will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
