Charles William Mason, 87, of Greenwood died July 26, 2009. Charles was born to the late Charles Henry & Ethel Ann Bradley Mason in Orange County, IN on August 11, 1921. Charles was raised in French Lick, IN and lived sixty years in the Beech Grove area. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Beech Grove VFW #5626, American Legion # 276, and the Logan Masonic Lodge #575. Charles retired from the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company. For many years Charles worked security at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He attended Indiana Central College and played basketball there. He was a talented golfer and an instructor with several local clubs. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ursla Louise Chisham Mason. Four children: Charlene Riley, Dr. William & Karen Mason, Wanda & John Wayne Christy, and Brenda & Willard Sumner. One sister: Patricia & Dennis Loveall. Eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 5-8 PM with funeral service at 10:00 AM Friday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 1977 South State Road 135 Greenwood, IN 46143.
