IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlie Ray
Gilpatrick
October 26, 1936 – September 12, 2025
Mr. Charlie Ray Gilpatrick, Greenwood, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, September 12, 2025. He was 88 years old.
Charlie was born October 26, 1936, in Celina, Tennessee, a son of the late William Radford and Ruth Mae (McBride) Gilpatrick. He was a graduate of Celina High School and soon after proudly and honorably served in the United States Army.
Following his military service, Charlie was employed with Lily Industrial Coatings in Indianapolis, where he worked faithfully for 36 years before retiring in 1998.
Charlie was a devoted member of South Central Church of Christ in Indianapolis. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the United States and especially cherished wintering in Leesburg, Florida. He loved the outdoors and had a lifelong passion for fishing—whether deep-sea or in a quiet creek close to home. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always looked forward to family gatherings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma (McClain) Gilpatrick; his children, David (Lisa) Gilpatrick and Pam (Charlie) Goad; his grandchildren, Logan (Rachel) Goad, Jessica (Sean Gorman) Gilpatrick, Erin (Josh) Brown and Whitley Burk and his great-grandchildren, Ella, Charlie, Addie, Aubrey, Ben, Callum, Olivia, and Thea. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Gilpatrick, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his grandson, Keith Gilpatrick, and his siblings, Granville Gilpatrick, Essie Kello, Betty Grubbs, Turner Gilpatrick, and Clara Gilpatrick.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, with Minister Steve Jaggers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the funeral home.
