Cheryl D. Barnes, 70, of Bargersville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025. She was born to William and Betty Dillard, and from the very beginning, her life was filled with warmth, creativity, and a deep love for family.
Cheryl, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was married for 52 beautiful years to the love of her life, John "Jack" Barnes, with whom she built a life full of laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Cheryl was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud grandmother. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met, and she had a remarkable gift for turning strangers into lifelong friends. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always generous.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: quilting intricate patterns with love, designing her own bracelets, singing her heart out at karaoke, and hosting unforgettable gatherings for family and friends. Cheryl never missed a good game of Bingo with her friends, but her favorite moments were spent around the card table, laughing and playing with her family.
Cheryl leaves behind her loving husband, John S. Barnes Sr.; her three children, Dwayne (Sandra) Barnes, John (Nicole) Barnes Jr., and Tiffany Wagers; and her treasured grandchildren: John (Regina) Swift, Dustin (Elizabeth) Barnes, Casey (Meagan) Barnes, Brandon (Lucy) Barnes, Baleigh Barnes, Chloe Barnes, Braeden (Taylor Lynn) Wagers, and Logan (Skyler Stits) Wagers. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren:
Madison Swift, Chase Swift, Zoie Barnes, Mila Barnes, Addisyn Lynn, Nora Wagers,
She is also survived by her mother, Betty J. Dillard, and her siblings Kathryn (Robert) Madison, Jeffery W. Dillard, and William (Vickie) Dillard.
Cheryl's legacy is one of love, laughter, creativity, and connection. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
