Obituary

Cheryl Ann Chittenden, 66, of Indianapolis, transitioned to her forever home early Wednesday morning, March 11, 2021, at home.

Cheryl was born February 28, 1955, to Donald and Mary (Lynch) Southgate of Indianapolis. She attended Arlington High School; then in 1985, she attended Clark Business College and received her business degree.

She was employed with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance for nearly 35 years. She began her career working in the Records Retention Department and ended her career in the Commercial Claims Department. Cheryl loved her work-family and enjoyed her career with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.

Cheryl liked meeting new people and she always wanted to make others happy. She did not meet a stranger. She enjoyed laughing, camping, the water, singing karaoke, dancing and watching her shows. But, above all that, she enjoyed spending time with her huge family. Anyone that knew her knew that she was a very proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Mary Southgate; brother, Dave Southgate; son, Matt Chittenden; and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Roller.

She is survived by her husband, Gil Chittenden; four children, Chris Roller, Gary (Lexi) Roller, Melissa (Drea) Roller-Bostic, and Jason (Amber) Chittenden; 22 grandchildren, Aaron (Emily), Darren (Anna), Briceson, Matthew, Krystine, Michael, Madison, Gabby, Corey, Bobby (Jasmin), Jazmine (Brandon), Jacob, Jeremy, Zack, Zoey, Jalen, Brooklyn and Jocelyn; 9 great-grandchildren, Aidan, McKinlynn, Cameron, Arianna, Artemis Rose, Gunner, Layla, Addisyn and Asher; brothers Tommy (Donna) Southgate, Steve (Audrey) Southgate, and Donald (JR) Southgate; sister, Tina Southgate; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and several adopted children. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens & Funeral Home in Greenwood on March 18, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. with services following at 8 p.m.
