Obituary

Chester H. Hedges 84, of Indianapolis passed away October 11, 2019.  He was born in Decker, IN to the late Chester and Bessie Hedges.  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Doris Hedges; children Cheryl (Brad) Barney, Steven Hedges, Beth (Mark) Wiley; grandchildren Kelly (James) Thompson, Carla (Austin) Brann, Paige Wiley, and Luke Wiley; great grandchildren Cayden Brann and Braylen Brann; and brother James Hedges.  Chester was preceded in death by his sister Eva Lane.

Chet was a member of University Heights United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

In his younger years before he was married, Chet served a few years in the Army  National Guard. Chet was an Indiana sports fan. He loved watching IU and Pacers basketball and Colts football. But more than anything, Chet loved his family. He and his wife and kids enjoyed traveling to visit his brother, Jim and his family in Missouri. While visiting, they enjoyed going out on the lake with all of their families. Chet also loved camping trips with his family and of course fishing. Chet was known to be the neighborhood Mr. Fix It. He loved working with his hands and found great satisfaction being to help others. Chet was not only talented in his workshop, but also in the kitchen. Chet loved making home made ice cream for family gatherings- which were often! Most importantly, he was usually found spending time with his family. That was his number one priority and enjoyment.
