Mr. Chris Alan Potts, 64, of Whiteland, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on December 2, 2025. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who are heartbroken by his loss.
Chris was born on October 25, 1961, in Salem, Ohio, and was the son of William Alexander Potts and Sandra Jean (Weidenhof) Gopp. He attended Center Grove High School and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1980.
Chris devoted most of his adult working life to the sheet metal industry and was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 20 for over 40+ years.
Chris was an avid car enthusiast who found joy in all things automotive, particularly antique and classic trucks and cars. He greatly enjoyed restoring and working on trucks and took great pride in having two of his vehicles featured on the cover of Mopar Muscle and Mopar Collectors Guide. Helping his friends restore and fix up cars was one of his greatest passions. He loved attending car shows, especially at Suds in Greenwood, and had a fondness for collecting antiques. Known as a quiet, laid-back person, he cherished time spent with his close-knit group of friends and was deeply loved by his family and his dogs.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Gopp; his sisters, Tammy (Terry) Renner, Paula (Greg) Pogue, Stacy Potts, and Marlo 'Toby' Gopp; his cherished nieces and nephews, Ashley Grace, Alex Prock, Lucas Seibring, and Harrison Pogue; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Lee Gopp.
A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at 6:30 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until the time of service. Chris will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution in Chris's memory, the family has suggested those be offered to the Johnson County Humane Society.
