Clara Mae Nitti, age 79, of Greenwood passed away at her home June 30, 2010. She was born October 1, 1930 in Lumberton, NC to Emmett and Caroline (Locklear) Jernigan. She was a salesperson most of her life as well as a member of St. Francis and Clare Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Aux. Post # 252 and loved to cut grass and garden. She married Richard Nitti in 1952 and he survives along with one daughter, Tamara (Derrick) Morgan; one brother, Newman Jernigan; one sister, Lois Ann Ellis; six grandchildren, Christina, David, Justin, Nicole, Amber and Dacota; one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Nitti. Funeral services will be Tuesday July 6 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis & Clare Catholic Church, Greenwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Utica, NY at a later date. Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
