Clarence Edward Blaich, 89, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at The Indiana Masonic Home. Clarence was the youngest son born to the late Jesse H. and Jessie (McClain) Blaich, on December 23, 1921. Clarence is a graduate of Center Grove High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the Military Police from June 1942 to January 1946. While stationed at Fort Gorden, GA, he met and later married his love Dorothy Hazel Phillips in Marietta, GA.
After Clarence and Dorothy married they returned to Bargersville to raise their family. Clarence worked for Arvin Industries as a tool & die maker. He retired from Eli Lily & Company in 1987. Clarence recently celebrated his 50th anniversary as a member of the Bargersville Masonic Lodge. Clarence also enjoyed watching sports on TV. He especially enjoyed watching high school basketball games; and rooting on the IU Basketball team as well as the Atlanta Braves Baseball team. Clarence moved to Franklin in 2006.
Clarence is survived by his 2 loving daughters: Jean Witty (Steve) and Connie Kummer (Charles); 2 grandchildren: Derick Witty (Keri) and Kara Mitchell (Steve); and 3 great-grandchildren: Gracie and Cooper Mitchell and Jackson Witty.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years; brother Otis (Pete); and 3 sisters: Agnes, Ruth, and Mae.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements during their time of loss. A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
