Clarice (Williams) Sparks passed away, peacefully, on Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born in Tompkinsville, KY, to the late Olmer and Lillian (Davis) Williams. She moved with her family to Indianapolis when she was seven years old. Clarice attended Southport Schools and graduated from Southport High School.
Clarice married Roy Sparks on November 17, 1956 and they were married 42 years before his death on June 28, 1998.
Clarice was employed by Blue Cross- Blue Shield Insurance for 16 ½ years before moving to Missouri where she was employed by the Jackson, Missouri Newspaper until moving back to Greenwood, IN. She then was employed by the Indiana Department of Child Services retiring February 24, 2012 after 40 ½ years of service.
Clarice and her family were charter members of the Jackson Missouri and Shelbyville Road Church of Christ where she taught bible classes at both.
Clarice enjoyed traveling alone and with her family and later after the death of her husband, with her niece, Beth Ward, traveled to all 50 states, 3 provinces of Canada and Mexico. Clarice was a published poet and author. She also enjoyed the simple pleasure of enjoying the breeze and sunshine on her porch.
Surviving are her two sons, Robert (Linda) and Adam Sparks of Indianapolis, granddaughter, Stephanie Hott, great-grandchildren, Kylee, Hunter, and Jacqueline Hott of Greenwood In.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Roy Sparks, Sisters, Nina Ward and R. Pauline Williams and brother, James Williams Sr.
A visitation for Clarice will be held on April 3, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on April 3, 2023 at1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
