Corey Anthony Ray Lyda, Lafayette, IN, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was 47 years old. Corey was born in Indianapolis, IN to his parents, Charles and Sharyl Lyda. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School, class of 1996, and was attending Ultimate Medical Academy, where he was studying medical coding and billing. Corey and his wife, Amanda Douglas, were committed to each other for nine years and were married in Lafayette, IN on June 6, 2024. They shared 1.5 years of marriage together while raising their beloved fur-babies.
Corey was a follower and believer of Christianity all throughout his life. Corey enjoyed watching movies, shopping at flea markets, going bowling, and enjoying the simple things in life. He loved playing chess and trying out his luck at the casinos; Keno was his favorite game. Corey was a wonderful caretaker for many people during his life; he operated a group home while he lived in North Carolina and took care of his mother-in-law when she experienced health problems. Spending time with family was always something that Corey looked forward to and enjoyed. Corey will be remembered for his loving nature, intelligence, and kind soul. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Corey is survived by his wife, Amanda Douglas; his fur-babies, Sophie, Shiloh, Abbie, Boots, Tigger, Scribbles, Scrabbles, and Midnight; his siblings, Christyna (Jeff) Eaton, Sharyl (Chad) Schmidt, Shane Lyda, Shannon Johnson, Chance Lyda; his step siblings, Jeremy (Ida) Heady, Jonathan Heady, and Becky Whyde; his bonus mom, Sheila Eacret Lyda; his mother-in-law, Marcia Douglas; his brothers-in-law, Spencer (Kaitlin) Douglas and Taylor Douglas; his aunt, Candi Viles; his several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and great cousins.
Corey is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby Lyda; his grandparents, Robert Lyda, Alma Reece, and Lucille Lawson; his aunts Zula Mae Lyda, Sue Bradley; his uncle Robert Lyda.
The visitation for Corey will be on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will occur on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. The burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:30 pm.
