Dalene Ann Davis, Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026. She was 88 years old. Dalene was born in Indianapolis, IN to her parents Joseph H. and Dortha Mills. Dalene comes from a family of entertainers and was brought up to know how to play several instruments including the standing base, trombone, saxophone, and the organ. She enjoyed performing in shows with her family by her side. Dalene attended and graduated from Howe High School in Indianapolis, IN, class of 1956.

Dalene was a Christian and privately practiced her faith. She served her family as a homemaker for several years while her children were growing up. Dalene was a devoted mother and enjoyed being involved in her children’s lives; for instance, she was her daughter’s girl scout Troup leader for many years. As her nest became empty, Dalene stayed busy and took several office jobs in various fields to support herself. Dalene enjoyed sewing clothes, playing cards, and going bowling in her free time. She will be remembered for her bubbly personality, quick witted humor, and loving nature. Dalene will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those she leaves behind.

Dalene is survived by her children, Candi (Rusty) Scrougham, Tina (Sylvester) Davis-Smith, Bryan (Lisa) Davis, Lisa (Daniel) Davis- English; her grandchildren, Chanda Taylor, Michelle Perry, Kadjah Colemen, Breanna Caplinger, Brooke Davis-Melton, and Jasmine English; her great grandchildren, Kaylinn Norris, Alicin Perry, Ariel Rosa Artis, London Harris, Ella Caplinger, Deegan Caplinger, and Bishop Melton; her great great grandchild, Bronwynn Norris; her nephew, Barry Hunt.

Dalene is preceded in death by her parents; her grandchild, Candace Scrougham; her sister, Garnett Hunt.

Dalene will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
