Daniel R. Hornaday, 73, of Cloverdale, Indiana, passed away October 19, 2017. The son of Theodore and Mary Katherine (George) Hornaday, Daniel was born February 5, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was an employee of Allison Gas Turbine, a Division of General Motors in Indianapolis, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 933 Union Hall, Indianapolis, and served as a committeeman and alternate committeeman.
Daniel was an avid NASCAR racing fan, attending numerous racing events throughout his life. He was a professional roller skater who taught roller skating at the Franklin Skate Club, Franklin, IN and later at the former Melody Skating Rink in Indianapolis.
He attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Greencastle, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife, Judith A. (Simpson) Hornaday, Cloverdale, whom he married on June 19, 1971; sons, Edward A. (wife, Angel) Hornaday of Burlington, Iowa and Daniel R. (wife, Melissa) Hornaday, Jr. of Indianapolis; daughter, Angela J. (husband, Trevor) Montgomery of Avon; grandchildren, Holly R. (wife, Kelsy) Montgomery, Ivy M. Montgomery, Jacob M. Montgomery, Kayla A. Hornaday, Alyssa N. Hornaday, Dakota S. Hornaday, Daniel R. Hornaday, III, Ava E. Hornaday and Amanda R. Lockaby and great-grandson, Andrew Lockaby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel F. and Myrtle Sutphin; brother, Theodore Hornaday, Jr. and his sister, Pamela York.
Funeral services 10:00 a.m. October 24, 2017 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
