Daniel W. McGathey, 57, of Indianapolis passed away March 10, 2017. He was born October 22, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN to Roland and Suzanne (Dampier) McGathey.

Daniel was employed at INDOT for 35 years. Daniel was the best shooter in the family and as a child, he was the best bottle finder who always gave the extra change from recycling them to his other sibilings. Daniel enjoyed watching sports and was a loving father and grandfather. He was the type of person who was always willing to help out someone in need. He was a beloved son, father, papaw, and brother and will be forever missed.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Roland.

He is survived by his mother, Suzanne; sons, Joshua (Alicia Lucas) McGathey and Austin (Dakota Burns) McGathey; daughter, Caitlin (Reginald Carter) McGathey; brothers, Michael (Jackie) McGathey and Max (Tonya) McGathey; sister, Julie Dishman; grandchildren, Addyson, Izaiah, Nala, R.J., and Hanson and canine companion, Baby.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15 from 12 pm - 2 pm with a funeral service at 2 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
