Darryl James Simpson, 63, of Bargersville died unexpectedly February 11, 2026.
Darryl was born on December 22,1962 to James Dean Simpson and Barbara Lee Burchfield Simpson in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He graduated from Southport High School in 1981 where he made lifelong friends that became family and met the love of his life, Daun Weliever. They married in1990 and raised two beautiful daughters, Alexandria and Rachel, all while Darryl started and ran a successful concrete business. Darryl's greatest joys were watching his grandkids, Vivian and Miles, grow and feeling at peace knowing his daughters found happiness with Kendell and Bronson, who love, care, and protect them as much as he does.
Darryl was an avid outdoorsman with a zest for life and always had the best one-liners. He loved fishing, horticulture, and cultivating the best yard in town. Some might consider him the grill-master or baker extraordinaire, but no matter what, he loved taking care of his people and that always included making sure everyone had more than enough – it's a Simpson thing. He was kind, devoted, and charming, with a witty sense of humor like no other and a knack for making everyone feel seen. But most importantly, Darryl was giving. Giving of his time, his love, his light, his loyalty, and now giving the ultimate gift of life.  As an organ donor, his final act was helping those in need, a true hero.  Darryl's legacy will live on forever…. along with those classic one-liners.
Darryl is survived by his wife Daun, daughters Alexandria Miller (Kendell) and Rachel Simpson, grandchildren Vivian and Miles Miller, brother David Simpson (Teri), mother-in-law Joyce Weliever, sister-in-law  Kristie Geitner (Brian), brother-in-law John R. Weliever II, many nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Darryl is preceded in death by his parents James and Barbara Simpson, sister Joni Morgan, brothers Jeff and Jason Simpson, and father-in-law John Weliever.
A visitation for Darryl will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 4:00 pm with Marcia Jenkins presiding.
