It is with profound sadness, yet gratitude for a long life, that the family of David Enright announces his passing on February 3rd at the age of 85. David passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his residence in Indianapolis, Indiana.

David Earl Enright, June 29, 1940 - February 3, 2026, celebrated coach and educator, passed away leaving a legacy of excellence on and off the field. A standout athlete at Manual High School, Purdue, and Butler, Dave transitioned into a Hall of Fame coaching career. He led Hamilton Southeastern to the 1981 State Football Championship (71-27 record) before continuing his success at Bloomington South, Perry Meridian, Warren Central and Decatur Central.

Beyond the trophies, Dave is remembered for his ingenuity, toughness and competitive nature. He was a mentor who turned hard work into a way of life. To those who knew him best, he was a fighter who believed that your circumstances don't define you—your discipline does.

But his most important legacy will be his extraordinary dedication to mentoring young men. He taught his players that "nothing is given, everything is earned."

From his days playing for Tony Hinkle to the banners hanging in the gym today, Dad's legacy isn't just in the wins; it's in the men he helped mold. He will be deeply missed by his family, former players, and the Indiana sports community, but we take comfort in knowing his "game plan" lives on in all of us.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Gladys Baker Burge. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Enright, his daughter Kelly, his son Kyle (Callie) and his grandchildren Loagin, Jasmina, Kayalina, Elijah, Ellenor and Ryker and 3 Great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
