David Henry Lynn was born in LaGrange, Illinois at the Illinois Masonic Orphans home to parents Fred and Gertrude Lynn. Fred Lynn was Superintendant of the home and he and Gertrude raised six children of their own while running the home for 30 years. David was living at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana at the time of his passing.

David joined the U. S. Army in 1943 and was sent to the ASTP program at College of Puget Sound in Washington and was then transferred to the 11th Armored Division stationed at Camp Cooke in California. From there the Division was sent to Europe, where it fought in the Battle of the Bulge among other conflicts. In later life, David was active in the 11th Armored Division Association and Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. He was proud of his service to our country and enjoyed talking with other veterans who went through similar hardships. David earned the Purple Heart, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge and three Bronze Stars.

After returning home from Europe in 1946, he attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Most of his professional career was spent in the heat treating industry where he dealt with the major automobile makers and other manufacturers. While attending Michigan State University, David met and married Betty Jane Powell and they had two children together, Peggy and James.

David enjoyed outdoor activities like camping, hunting and fishing as well as card games with friends. He was active in Center Lodge #35, F.&A.M., the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine, all in Indianapolis and was proud to be a Mason. He once said, "I was born in a Masonic home and I will probably die in a Masonic home", his words proved to be prophetic.

David Lynn is survived by his two children, Peggy who lives in Houston, Texas and James who resides in Milford, Michigan; his first wife, Betty Jane Powell Lynn of Milford, Michigan; brothers, Jack E. Lynn of San Francisco, California and Robert H. Lynn of Culver, California and sister, Mary Stein of Maryland.

Rev. Charles Stanley will officiate at funeral services at 2:00 p.m. October 27, 2013 in Ransford Chapel at the Indiana Masonic Home, Franklin, where friends may call from 12:00 noon to time of service. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood is assisting with arrangements.
