Indianapolis, IN — David Alan McManama, 76, of Indianapolis, devoted husband, father, son and brother, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023.
Born on December 5, 1946 in Carmel, IN, David was the eldest of two sons. His childhood was full of wonderful memories where he developed his passion for being outside working on golf courses.
After graduating from Carmel High School, David attended Purdue University where he received his degree in Agronomy. David was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and played football and golf for the Boilermakers.
David served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division where he was a First Lieutenant.
He began his career at Elanco and spent 50 years in the agriculture and turf industry. Grower meetings took him all over the U.S. and Canada. Many of his fondest memories include working at Certis USA and creating strong bonds of friendship. David enjoyed landscape architecture and working outdoors. He was the developer of The Pines of Fall Creek subdivision on the Northside of Indianapolis.
David is remembered by his dear wife of 45 years Cheryl (Stegnach) McManama, and his beloved and beautiful daughters Megan Jane and Amy Marie McManama, and his baby Bichon Coco. His family was his first passion. He also loved family dinners, vacations and attending Purdue football games and playing golf.
Proceeding him in death were his mother, Charlotte Butterworth McManama, brother, Glenn McManama and grandparents, Charles and Jesse Butterworth, in-laws, Gilbert and Jane Stegnach, in-law grandparents, Ralph and Helen Brcin and several aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and friends.
Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. The funeral will be a private ceremony. A Celebration of Life to honor his memory will be planned at a later date.
