David Lee Miller passed away peacefully at 91 years old with his family surrounding him on January 4, 2026. He was born to Estel and Julia Lucille (Hampton) Miller.
David graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1952 where he was a cheerleader his senior year. This class of 1952 was very unique purposely maintaining close friendships over the years. In 1994 many enjoyed a cruise to the Bahamas. David was a very proud US Army veteran. On February 9, 1965 he married Beverly Kay (Sichting) in San Juan, Puerto Rico where they operated a Dairy Queen their first year of marriage. They enjoyed 60 years together; traveling a great deal. He was a member and deacon at Chapel Rock Christian Church where he organized many mission trips. One was building a church in Neuvo Rosito , Mexico for a missionary with Mission Mexico. Then he helped another missionary from Chapel Rock drive a donated school bus from Indianapolis to Honduras. He was also involved with Church Builders in building Christian Churches in Indiana, Kentucky, Florida and Delaware. Upon retirement he and Kay moved to Naples and were active members of First Baptist Naples where they sang in the choir and many Christmas productions. While there he organized 3 mission trips to Haiti building schools
David loved racing, especially the Indy 500 where he was a USAC official. NASCAR became a favorite later in life. Golf was also a favorite even working at Olde Cypress Club in Naples for 17 years. David was known for his gregarious personality and vibrant smile. He was always a fashionable dresser including black and white spectator shoes
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Kay and 3 children: Tamara Pennington (Bob), Teresa Lee Tillery(Bo) and Scott David Miller. Three grandchildren; Aubrie Manis (Kevin), Aaron Pennington and Lauren Hutto (Adam). Four great grandchildren; Paige Pennington, Landon Pennington, Elliott Manis and Ryan Manis.
Services will be Saturday, January 17th at 1:00 with visitation an hour before at Southland Community Church
