Mr. David 'DR' Raker, 73 of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. The second of three children, he was born November 28, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late Fred and Lillie (Quebe) Raker.
Dave graduated from Southport High School and served briefly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was later self-employed as owner of Bushwackers Total Lawn Service, proudly serving the Indianapolis area. Dave will be best remembered for his playful sense of humor, his larger-than-life personality and a fierce love for his close-knit family and friends. He cherished the time he could spend with his family and dear friends.
Dave will be fondly remembered by the love of his life of 31 years, his wife Donna Fay Raker; his four children, Jon (Amy) Raker, Stephanie (Ed) Sulya, Rob (Layla) Wall and Terry (Lyndsey)Wall; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandcchild, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy (Jonathan) Miller and Janice (David) Strietelmeier as well as a host nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Fred and Lilly Raker.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Friedens United Church of Christ, 8300 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46217 with Rev. Trisha Gilbertson and Rev. Marc Hayden officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Monday, February 21, 2022 and for one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
