David Philip Zapp, 66, Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022. David was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on November 14, 1955, a son of Dale and Patricia (Engle) Zapp.

David graduated from Cathedral High School in 1974, where he won the 1 st IHSAA Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude Award at the state football finals. David played football at Eastern Illinois University, played baseball and graduated from Marian University in Indianapolis. David married Karla F. (Kunkel) Allen on November 23, 2003 in Chicago, Illinois. David had a long career as a CPA and CFO and retired as a Financial Analyst at Beck's Hybrids in Atlanta, Indiana. He was embraced as a member of the Beck's family and thoroughly enjoyed his job being a mentor to the next generation. David enjoyed playing pickleball and vacationing at his home on Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Zapp and in-laws, Irvin and Blanche (Skelton) Kunkel. David is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Karla Allen; children, Keith (Lori) Zapp and Amy (Patrick) Farrell; step-children, Patrick (Julie) Allen, Sherry (Scott) Sigler, Nicholas Allen and Karie (Garrett) Mullens and 11 grandchildren; father, Dale Zapp; and brothers, Douglas (Linda) Zapp and Patrick (Linda) Zapp.

He will be missed by many extended family members and dear friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the Glioblastoma Foundation (glioblastomafoundation.org) or Cathedral High School (5225 E. 56 th St., Indianapolis, Indiana). Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana. There will be a Celebration of Life from 7-11 p.m. at Dye's Walk Country Club (2080 S. State Rd. 135 Greenwood, Indiana) on Friday, September 30, 2022.
