Obituary

Deborah Anne (Birdwell) Eads, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She was 76 years old. Deborah was born in Indianapolis, IN to her parents, Hardy and Violet Agnes Birdwell. She graduated from Manual High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from IUPUI and IWU and graduated summa cum laude with at 3.95 GPA. Deborah attended grad school at U of I. Deborah married her husband, Richard Eads, in Reno, NV, on March 20, 1978, and they shared 48 years of marriage together.
Deborah worked as an engineer for Indiana Bell, which later became AT&T. She was the first female engineer Indiana Bell hired. She was a dedicated employee for the company for thirty years and opted to accept a buy-out to retire in 1998.  Deborah was a devout Christian woman and a member of Grace Point Church with her husband for the last seventeen years. She led a ladies' bible study and participated in the weekly prayer group. Deborah played the accordion and the piano. She was fabulous at gardening, cooking and baking. Deborah had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. She used to keep cat food, water, and litter in the trunk of her car in case she came across a needy feline. She also enjoyed travelling and going for rides on the back of her husband's Harley motorcycle. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother but mostly as a genuine Proverbs 31 woman.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Richard L. Eads, PhD; her son, Thomas J. Eads MD; her 5 grandchildren; her 4 great grandchildren; her 2 cats.
Deborah is preceded in death by her brother, Kenny; her mother; her father.
A graveside service will be held for Deborah on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 12:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
