Diane Pauline Bitner of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.  She was born in Bay City, Michigan on November 24, 1952.

A wife, mother, and grandma too, Diane loved spending time with her family.  Her four grandchildren were the light of her life.  She always attended their dance recitals and sporting events, took them on special outings, and was always ready to welcome them into her home. Every year during the holidays she took the grandkids shopping to buy gift donations for Riley's Children's Hospital.  Diane retired several years ago from being an executive secretary.  She was an amazing seamstress and so very creative in everything she did.  Diane loved taking trips around the world with her sister.  She also volunteered weekly with the HOSTS program at local elementary schools in which she helped students with their reading skills.  Her students, family, and friends were very special to her.

Diane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jeffery and Lara Czap; four grandchildren; her father Carl DeMaet (Mary), and four siblings.  She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Bitner (2015), her mother Barbara Plachta, and brother.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 5:00 PM until the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 7:00PM at the funeral home.
