Dieter Tepner was surrounded by his family when he passed after a courageous battle with
meningioma brain tumors. He was 81.
Dieter was born in Konigsberg, Germany. He earned his carpentry apprenticeship in Germany.
He immigrated to the United States, putting his roots down in Indianapolis, Indiana at 20 years
young. Dieter worked for L.S. Ayres for 30 years in the furniture repair shop at the downtown
Indianapolis store, where he met his wife Demetria of 55 years. He helped set-up L.S. Ayres's
Christmas window store displays, and the children's train.
Dieter had an infectious smile, woke-up happy, grateful for each day, and a healthy appetite. He
was a devoted husband, Father, and grandfather. In his spare time; he enjoyed being outdoors;
building, gardening, cookouts, and spending time with his loving family. He was a member of
Concordia Lutheran Church. Dieter did not know a stranger, and made friends everywhere he
went. He will be deeply missed by his family, and all who knew him.
Dieter is survived by his wife Demetria Tepner, son, Karl (Nick) Tepner-Fricano, daughter, Dina
(David) Krieg, siblings, Gerald Wichmann, Heidi Miller, Armin Tepner, Roger Tepner, Annette
Farthing, grandchildren Joshua Krieg, Ashleigh Krieg, Justin (Abbi) Krieg, and 4 great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Father Herman, Mother Emmy Tepner, and
Step-Mother Crystal Tepner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday July 14 th , at Forest Lawn Funeral
Home, Greenwood. Pastor Paul Gaschler will be officiating the service. The family will receive
friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
