Mrs. Dixie Jeanne White, Greenwood, passed away on
the afternoon of Saturday, June 4, 2022. Dixie was born March 7, 1933 in Washington, Indiana,
a daughter of the late Gerald and Thelma (Thornell) Aishe.
Dixie was a graduate of Washington High School
and went on to earn her Bachelors degree from Indiana
University and ultimately earned her Master's
degree from Butler
University.
She spent her professional career
in education and retired from Perry Township Schools where she served at Southport (Keystone) Middle School as Dean of Girls. Dixie had a strong faith in God and put that faith into
practice as a member of the Greenwood Christian Church. Her light shined
brightly yet gently as she shared her wisdom and offering guidance and counseling
to many over the years, touching countless lives.
Dixie had also volunteered many hours helping others in the
community. She loved her family and always put them first, taking care of their
needs before her own. She was a member a member of Tri Kappa Sorority.
Dixie is survived by her children, Cheryl White and David
White; her sisters, Donna Peed Gill and Darlene (Dan) Walters as well as a
niece, Cindy (JC) Noll; her nephews, Danny Walters, Darren Walters and Devon
Walters and her great-nieces, Alison Dougherty and Danica Dowling.
In addition to her parents,
she is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Paul G. White and her
brother-in-law, Thurman Gill.
Funeral services will be conducted
at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor
Matt Giebler officiating. She will be entombed beside her husband at Sugarland
Cemetery Mausoleum in Washington,
Indiana.
The family will receive
friends from 11:30 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
For those choosing to make a
memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Baxter
YMCA – Indianapolis
for the annual campaign.
