Donald Brent Willsey, known to us as Don, passed away peacefully on December 14 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was 61 years old.

Don was born in Indianapolis to Donald R. Willsey, and Virginia Willsey and spent his life building something meaningful, especially with the people he loved. He was a musician who played guitar and sang, and he had a natural way of bringing laughter and warmth into any room.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit and an unshakable determination, especially when it came to taking care of his family. He was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren and supported each of them wholeheartedly in their interests and passions.

Don loved getting his family together. He was the storyteller and grill captain, the biggest cheerleader at games and shows, and the person who made sure everyone felt included. He enjoyed listening to music, working on his cars, tackling house projects, riding his motorcycle, and getting lost on country roads with his wife. He also loved sharing boat drinks, cheering on IU and the Colts, and spending time watching his grandchildren perform, play, and grow.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Willsey, his children, Christopher Willsey (fiance Kelsey), Emily Gordon (husband Grant) and Jacqueline Martinez (husband Rudy), his grandchildren, Aubrey, Kendall, Mira, Draven, Adalynn and Kenzie, and his siblings, Steve Willsey, Bob Willsey, and Becky Willsey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana.

Don will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the way he showed up for the people who mattered to him. His music, his stories, and his love will stay with us.
