Obituary

Donald "Duck" Wade Persinger, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away September 30, 2016. The son of Opal Persinger and Robertine Mize Persinger Stropes, Duck was born October 20, 1944 in Salem, Indiana.

In 1963, he graduated from Medora High School (Jackson County, Indiana). From August 1963 to August 1969, he served in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War. Duck later served from August 1979 to August 1982 in the Georgia National Guard. For 25 years, Donald worked as a machinist for Zimmer Paper. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

Duck is survived by his mother, Robertine M. Stropes of Mooresville; daughters, Heather Stargle of Lexington, Kentucky and Donnetta Coats of Medora; sisters, Kay (Donnie) Allen of Waverly and Erma Sizemore of Mooresville; grandchildren, Josh Persinger, Brayden Persinger, Hannah Persinger, Christopher Schuller, Ashley Stargle, Morgan Smith and Nickolas Smith and one great granddaughter. In addition to his father, Duck was preceded in death by his son, Brian Scott Persinger; brother, Paul Persinger and half-sister, Linda Brewer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. October 6, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Military honors will conclude the services. Entombment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
