Donald Frederick Lahrman, age 81, of Plainfield, IN passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 with his loving family at his side. He was born September 16, 1933 in Indianapolis to Frederick and Erma (Gisler) Lahrman. Don was an Assembler at Indiana Gear for 30 years. He married the former Shirley Smith on June 27, 1964 and they spent 50 years as husband and wife. He was an avid woodworker and he loved to spend time with his family.

Don is also survived by his daughters, Debra (Ed) Savage, of Lady Lakes, FL, Donna (Jeff) Scarbrough, of Farmersburg, IN, Christine (Demba) Diene of Plainfield, IN, Christi (Mike) Jones, of Farmersburg, IN, Laura Garnelis, of Rosarita, Mexico, Mary (Bob) Crawford, of Plainfield, IN, and Shari (Mike) Shepherd, of Cloverdale, IN; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Lois Outcalt. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sharon Morgan and granddaughter, Deanna Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer''s Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
