Donald E. Phillips, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away October 15, 2015. Born September 1, 1932 in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Donald and Myrtle (Crouch) Phillips. He was a 1950 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. Donald worked as an auto mechanic with Nash Automobile Co.
He also owned and operated a Shell station in Indianapolis. He last worked for Indy Boat Salvage. He was a member of the Indianapolis Motorcycle Club, and Good Sams Camping Club. He married Mary C. Utterback on February 12, 1983, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark Phillips; Step sons, Ronald Walker and Mark Owens; daughters, Shirley Bennett and Linda (Robert) Showley; Step daughters, Joyce King and Marilyn Jackson; Grandchildren, Wyatt Showley, Devon Matthys, Greg King, Shelley Butts, Kim Taylor, Jim Walker, Jacinda Ross, Frank Jackson, Amanda Jackson and Angel Jackson; sixteen great - grandchildren, and one great - great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Marilyn Bryant and Joan Vaughn. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday October 20, 2015 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
