Donald (Don) Lee Robinson, 93, of Indianapolis, Indiana joined the church triumphant on June 12, 2026 with his devoted wife by his side. Don succumbed to the effects of dementia.
Don was born on February 16, 1933, in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Arthur and Beulah (Lory) Robinson. After graduating from Martinsville High School, Don went on to finish his education at Indiana University School of Business, Bloomington, Indiana. He was called into service with the U.S. Army, but not before he married Dorothy Eastlund. They are grateful for the 72 years of companionship.
Don began his career with Shell Oil and then moved on to serve under mayors Barton and Lugar as Controller for the City of Indianapolis, which was followed by a position with the Chamber of Commerce. During his tenure, he was involved in the development of Eagle Creek Park and Reservoir and Unigov, combining Marion County and the City of Indianapolis administrations. Later, Don joined the National Federation of Independent Business as Regional Director where he represented small business interests at various state legislatures. He was always a devout supporter of small businesses and spent his career developing ways to make the economic community beneficial to small business success. He retired in 1998.
Don loved southern gospel music and was a gifted pianist. He played and sang bass in the Harvesters Quartet, and several other singing groups throughout the years. Don was a committed follower of Jesus Christ. He was raised in and a faithful member with the Church of the Nazarene including Martinsville, Eagledale, Greenwood, Westbrook, Westside, and Grace Pointe. He served as worship leader, pianist, Sunday School teacher, and board member.
Don is survived by his wife Dorothy, children Greg (Debra) Robinson of Greenwood, Lynn (Robin) Thompson of Lakeland, FL, Sue (Bob) Light of Avon, IN, and Jeff Robinson and special friend Debbie Drake both of Plainfield, IN; his grandchildren Sara (Nelson) Rivera, Gregory (Joann) Robinson, Jenny (Steve) Johnson, Josiah Northern, Amber (Colin) Hansen, and Scot (Jennifer) Thompson, plus seven great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Glenda) Robinson, Rev. Paul (Lily) Robinson, Maurice Robinson, and Jon (Cathy) Robinson and sister Shirley (John) Warfel. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Mary Ennis and Jane Raney.
Visitation and funeral will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens & Funeral Home, Greenwood, Indiana on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Visitation is from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM. Burial will be immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Westside Garden Plaza or Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene on Don’s behalf.
