Donald L. Sandlin, 87, of Franklin, IN, passed away September 21, 2013 at the Franklin United Methodist Community. Born August 7, 1926 in St. Petersburg, Florida, he is the son of the late Lynn and Della (Brenneman) Sandlin.
Donald worked at Allison / GM in Indianapolis for thirty years, retiring in 1986. On February 5, 1949, he married Mary E. (Woodis) in Luka, Mississippi, she survives. Donald had a passion for the ministry, and took great pride in teaching the bible.
He served his country in WW II with the U.S. Navy and with the U.S. Air Force in Korea.
Also surviving are a son Dorian D. (Julie) Sandlin; a daughter, Frieda (Bruce) Dowler; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. S.R. 135, Greenwood, IN. A memorial service will be conducted October 12, 2013, 4:00 PM at the Franklin Methodist Communities Wright Memorial Chapel.
