Donald Gay Stedman, Sr, age 77 of Indianapolis, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at 10:20 a.m. Born, November 11, 1931 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Charles and Sylvia (Apple) Stedman. He was married 54 years to Barbara Throneburg. Don was a shipping and receiving clerk for Burford Printing Company in Indianapolis retiring after 34 years. He was a member of the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge. Don loved carpentry work and watching war movies and westerns. He was also a fan of the Atlanta Braves. He is survived by one son, Donald Gay Stedman, Jr.; one son-in-law, Roger White; two daughters, Rita Whittemore and Vickie J. (Jeffrey) Carpenter. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chad Smith, Darik Wayne Stedman, Shana Wolfley, April Lehr and Jeffrey Carpenter, Jr.; also by eight great-grandchildren and two sisters. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Ernest Charles Stedman, one daughter, Pamela Jean White, one brother and four sisters. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 24th, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home at 1977 S. State Road 135 in Greenwood, IN 46143. Service will be at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Indianapolis with Military Rights. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
