Donald Eugene Young, 86 of Franklin passed away on February 11, 2019. Don was born in Mooresville, Indiana on January 4, 1933 to Charles and Olive Young. Don is at home in Heaven, having received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. Don graduated from Howe HS in Indianapolis. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving as a guard in the prison ward and later receiving his honorable discharge. He married his beloved wife, Alice on January 21, 1961. He sorted mail for the Post Office on trains. He also installed telephone equipment for Stromberg-Carlson located out of New York. He worked as dispatch for Indianapolis DPW for a short time. He retired as a dock man for McLean Trucking Co.

He loved people and enjoyed the challenge of making people laugh. He could always see the humor in most situations. He adored his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed, but we don't say, goodbye, we say "see you later". We'll meet again inside the Eastern Gate.

Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Alice (Arnold) Young; daughter, Carol Young Gardner; granddaughters, Kristen M. Gardner and Holly L. Gardner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. and Olive Young; siblings, Charles Young, Arnold Young and Paul Young.

Funeral Services will held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Greenwood Bible Baptist Church, 1461 Sheek Road, Greenwood, In 46143 with visitation from 9:00 AM until the start of service. Interment and Military Services to immediately follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143
