It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our
beloved sister, Donna Jean Escallier (nee King), who left us on April 16, 2025
at the age of 69. She was a pillar of strength, fighting breast cancer for a
year before beating it, leaving behind a legacy of strength and admiration
that will be cherished forever. She leaves behind a son Eric J. Escallier, two
sisters Janice McKaig and Lori Houchin, as well as several nieces & nephews,
cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly. Patty Godinez was a
tremendous help to us, providing transportation, friendship & kindness.
Donna considered her like another sister. Donna was preceded in death by
her parents and a sister Debra Tuckett.
Donna was born on August 25, 1955, in Hammond, Indiana to the late
Donald & Julia King. She attended Indiana University, where she became an
RN, finishing her career at IU Health which she was very proud of. She was
highly respected by her colleagues and known for her dedication, integrity,
and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her work touched many lives.
Donna had a wide range of interests and passions that enriched her life and
the lives of those around her. She was an avid traveler, exploring new places
and experiencing different cultures with a sense of wonder and adventure.
She really enjoyed the food cultures of other countries including our
grandmother's home of Czechoslovakia. She enjoyed reading and loved cats,
which always had a place in her home.
