Doris Laverne Anderson Tomey, age 81, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016. The daughter of Chester and Sarah Susan Osborne Anderson, Doris was born in Monroe Township, Putnam County, Indiana on Monday, September 16, 1935.

After graduating from high school, she attended beauty college and was a licensed beautician for over 40 years, having owned Doris''s Beauty Shop. Doris was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Greenwood, where she sung in the church choir. She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting - especially afghans for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening and feeding the birds and ducks.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh S. Tomey of Greenwood, whom she married on May 20, 1956; son, Kenneth Lee (Debbie) Tomey of Whiteland; daughter, Nancy (John) Hickey of Carmel; brothers, Donald Anderson of Columbus and Larry Anderson of Indianapolis; sisters, Mildred Bailey of Cloverdale and Delores Able of Pendleton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by brothers, Chester Anderson and Gordon Anderson and sister, Roberta Gaston.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church - 200 Sunset Boulevard, Greenwood. Friends may call at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
