Doris Mae Korkos, 83, of Pittsboro, passed away May 3, 2017. The daughter of Edward and Edith E. Hollowell Bowman, Doris was born April 13, 1934 in Martinsville, Indiana.

After many years, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Doris was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening - in raising flowers and in her vegetable garden. She loved hunting for mushrooms and took pleasure in picking wildflowers. Doris was devoted and dedicated to her family. If you watched her, you would catch her blowing kisses to you and would respond to the phrase, "I love you" with "I love you more".

Doris is survived by son, Michael A. (Deborah J.) Korkos of Findlay, OH and daughter, Doreen L. (Frank) Lowery of Pittsboro; daughter-in-law, Christina Korkos of Indianapolis; sisters, Lois Wagner and Carol Doty, both of Indianapolis and Margaret Burkhardt of Port Charlotte, FL; sister-in-law, Glenda Bowman of Franklin; grandchildren, Ryan Korkos, Emily Gregory, Andrew Korkos, Linsay Korkos, Shane Lowery, David Lowery and Samuel Lowery; great-grandchildren, Riley Korkos, Reese Korkos, Raelyn Korkos, Fletcher Gregory, Jacob Lowery, Matthew Lowery, Eli Lowery and Benjamin Lowery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Korkos; son, Mark W. Korkos; brothers, Phillip and Robert Bowman and sisters, Rosemary Hancock and Joyce Neal.

Funeral services 1:00 p.m. May 8, 2017 at Pittsboro Baptist Church - 201 South Maple Street, Pittsboro. Friends may call at the church after 11:00 a.m. Burial at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown.
