Dorothy Lomeda Houchin, 81, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Lomeda was a life-long resident of Whiteland. For the past two years, she had been living at Christina Place in Franklin where she made many new friends.

Lomeda was born May 24, 1933, in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Dorothy and Virgil Bennett. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rodney Houchin. They were married for 57 years and rarely spent time apart. She is survived by two sisters and preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
She will be sadly missed by her three children, Laronda (Frank) Cardinali, Kimberly (Mark) Hayes, and Dane (Kim) Houchin. Lomeda was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Andrea (Cardinali) Woodson, Allison (Cardinali) Comerford, Tony Cardinali, Melanie (Reynolds) Kane, Deanne (Reynolds) Boston, Jamie (Reynolds) Beck, Jacob Houchin, Justin Houchin, Jena Houchin, Allison (Hayes) Hornaday, Rebecca (Hayes) Yunker and Deanna (Hayes) George; and was blessed with 16 great grandchildren.

Lomeda loved socializing and was a warm, inviting hostess. She was an avid bowler and served as the director of junior leagues at Greenwood Bowl for several years. Lomeda also spent many years as a softball coach. She and her husband enjoyed boating on Patoka Lake and spent as much time as possible at their cabin with family and friends. At home, you could find them dancing in the kitchen as music was an important part of their lives. Lomeda was known for her sense of humor, directness, unfailing sense of right and wrong, and was fiercely devoted to her children.
