Obituary

Duane R. "Dick" James, 80, of Morgantown, passed away in the early morning of June 11, 2021 in Indianapolis.  He was born February 26, 1941 to the late Duane and Lois (Hoy) James.

Dick was a proud UAW member and worked for more than 38 years as a machinist with Chrysler.  He was also the father of two children.  Dick enjoyed working with his hands; in his off time, he would refinish wood and antiques, go boating and fishing.  He also loved to read and watch westerns.  He was often found gardening, tending to vegetables and flowers, soaking in all the beautiful colors.  If you were in need of a good joke and a laugh, you could always count on Dick to come through with a zinger.  Above all, he was a family man who loved everyone and will be missed by many.

Dick will always be remembered by his wife, Julia (Huber) James; children, Michael Duane (Trisch Debus, long-time fiancee) James, and Wanda Day; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Mark James; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Phil; and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Sharon.

Family will receive friends from 4:30pm - 8:30pm Wednesday, June 16 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN  46143.  The celebration of life will be Thursday, June 17 at 11:00am, also at Forest Lawn.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society: https://www.mchumanesoc.org/
