Earl W. Ragsdale Jr., 74, of Greenwood, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his residence. Beginning in 1991, He was self-employed as a technical writer for the defense department. He was previously employed 27 years at the Naval Avionics Center, first as member of the Satellite Launch Team, then as writer and Contracting Officer''s Technical Representative. He was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and attended Purdue University. He served four years in the active Navy and four years in Naval Reserve. He is survived by his wife: Earlene, his mother: Mary, two daughters: Connie (Robert) Shinkle, Cindy ( Jay) Davis, one sister: Joy (Paul) Devine, four grandchildren: Ryan and Tyler Shinkle, Mark and Katie Elkins. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl and one brother, Russell Ragsdale. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. St. Rd. 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
