Eastal L. "Lee" Burdine, age 67, of Greenwood, passed away Oct. 22 in Indianapolis. He was born July 14, 1942 in Indianapolis to Amel F. and Ada E. Burdine who have preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and later worked as a Supervisor at Allison Transmission before retiring with 38 years of service. He volunteered all his life for his children''s activities which included being Past Vice Pres. of White River Twsp. Parks Board; Past Pres. of Center Grove Lassie League where he served as Coach for six yrs.; He was the Vice Pres. and Past Pres. of the Center Grove Marching Band Boosters; He received the 1st Community Spirit Award for Supporting Extra Curricular Activities from the Center Grove School Board. He was a Past Lay minister of Concordia Lutheran Church, and an Usher at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. He married Hildegarde Kathleen Meyer on Aug. 24, 1963 and she survives, along with one son, Kent Burdine and wife, Judith, of Indianapolis, and two daughters, Laura Helvie and husband, Lyle, of Mooresville, and Beth Roller and husband, Brian, of Greenwood. Also surviving are two brothers, William Bearl Burdine, and wife Jane, of Indianapolis, Jerry Burdine, and wife Delores, of Mooresville, two sisters, Josephine Turner and husband Kenneth, of Greenwood, and Vivian Williams and husband Oscar, of Greenwood as well as four grandchildren, Ryan and Jordan Helvie and Adam and Aaron Roller . Funeral Services will be Tuesday Oct. 27 at 10:00 AM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 5171 W. Smokey Row Rd. in Greenwood with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Visitation will be Monday Oct. 26 from 4 to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
