Mr. Edgar 'Loyd' Tallent, New Palestine, passed away on the early morning of Saturday, January 7, 2023. He was 88. Loyd was born October 7, 1934 in Pulaski, Tennessee, one of 12 children born to the late Bill and Vera (Prosser) Tallent.
Loyd attended school in Giles County, Tennessee and came to Indiana as a teenager in 1951. Loyd was a professional truck driver for most of his life and had driven for Indianapolis Drum Company for over 30 years. While there, he was a member of Teamsters Local 135. He spent much of his leisure time riding his trike which was one of his favorite things to do as was his daily visit to Planet Fitness to work out. Loyd deeply loved his family and cherished the moments they could spend together. Loyd was a faithful member of Church 52 in Indianapolis.
Loyd is survived by his stepdaughters, whom he loved as his own, Candy Stafford, Kathy Van Treese, Penny Hullander and Sherri Ballard; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his loving wife, Nellie M. Tallent and his eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:45 am, Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with entombment following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
