Obituary

Edith Drucilla (Acres) Profitt, 90, of Center, Kentucky, previously Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully at her daughter's home the morning of June 30, 2021.  She was born June 4, 1931 in Oneida, Tennessee to the late John Lewis and Arteama (West) Acres.

Edith was one of eighteen siblings who grew up together in the hills of Tennessee.  When she was 18, she and her first husband, Bill Goodman, and oldest daughter moved to Indianapolis where she began working at White Castle.  Edith then moved on to work at many different factories, finally retiring from Glass Containers where she was a bottle packer.  While she was in Indianapolis, Edith and Bill had two more children.  In 1963 she married Marlin Profitt and together they enjoyed their blended family.  They traveled some as a family, then as a couple after the kids grew up.  But most of all, Edith was at home in the kitchen.  She was a fantastic cook and loved to do all of it for the family holiday gatherings.  Edith loved her family above everything, she will be missed by so many.

Edith will be fondly remembered by her children, Barbara (Steve) Port, Patricia Slinker, and Kevin Goodman; eight grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Gilliam; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marlin, Edith was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters.

Family will receive friends from 11:00am - 12:00pm Tuesday, July 6 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana  46143, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00pm.
