Edwin L. Murrell, Sr., age 78, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014. He was born October 9, 1936 in Indianapolis, to Edgar and Mildred (Fuller) Murrell. Edwin was a U.S. Marine veteran and worked as an Inspector at Ford Motor Company for 37 years. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #1111 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 17 for many years. Edwin was an avid fisherman who also loved to play Santa Claus. He did leatherwork and he was a Quick Draw Sharp Shooter.
Edwin married the former Lola Padgett and she survives him along with his sons, Edwin L. (Carolyn) Murrell, Jr., Calvin (fiance'' Shannan) Murrell; daughter, Vera Murrell; brother, John (Pat) Beasley, Jr.; sisters, Darvol Murrell, Ramona Hayes, Mary (Nick) Ray, Rosalie (Rick) Bockweg, and Beverly (Ron) Graphman; grandchildren, Aaron (Nancy) Murrell, Joseph (Michelle) Sandlin, Corey Chambers, and Zachary Murrell; great grandson, Cayden Sandlin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Francis Murrell and brother, Lloyd "Buddy" Murrell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with the Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
