Elizabeth "Bessie" Malott, 90, passed away at home in Indianapolis on Sunday, September 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. The eldest daughter in a family of 11 children, Bessie was born on August 27, 1924 in Wolfe County, Kentucky to Ida Mae Hall and Morton Carson.
She is survived by five of her eight children and their families: Ray & Barbara Stewart of Brussels, Belgium; Brenda Sims of Indianapolis; Linda Moore of Indianapolis; James Stewart & Nicki Schill of McCordsville; and Marvin & Diana Stewart of Greenfield.
She was grandmother to 17 grandchildren (Tammy, Candy, Jamie, Jodie, Eric, Chad, Ben, Teresa, Scott, Ronnie, Nick, Matthew, Brittany, Michael, Shanna, Elizabeth, and Marvin II); 18 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She is survived also by her twin sisters, Junie Marshall of Indianapolis and Lula Stamps of Poland, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Malott was pre-deceased by her first husband, Cletis Stewart in 1981, and husband Charles Malott in 2007; an infant son, Raymond Lee, in 1948; son Michael Stewart in1999; and daughter Maxine Cook in 2013. She was pre-deceased also by baby sister Jewell Carson and seven Carson brothers: George W., John, William, Corsie, Herbert Hoover, Leonard and Wendell.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
She was deeply loved by her entire family.
