Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Hoover Hermsen, was born Oct. 20, 1921, Indpls., dau. of the late Walter D. and Lillian Gladys (Bess) Hoover. She married Paul J. Hermsen on May 3, 1947. He survives along with a dau. Beth Hermsen, who cared for them at home, Paul (Carol) of Chesterfield,VA, Jim of Indpls., and Bob (Mary) of Maricopa, AZ; seven grandchildren; Paul Lee, Carol Ann (John) Trail, Robert Hermsen, LCPL Kenny Hermsen, USMC, Afghanistan; Katie (Cory)Stika, Theresa and Ted Hermsen; seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by her brother, Walter R. Hoover and sister Margaret Brunson. She grew up in Irvington and graduated from Arsenal Technical HS and attended I.U. Betty taught fourth grade at St. Marks Catholic School and later became a statistician at Catholic Social Services for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, where she retired in 1984. She was a devoted volunteer in church, school, scouting and other community organizations. Visitation will be Tuesday (1-24-12) from 11am until service time at 1:30pm in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home.
