Obituary

Ellsworth John Champion, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 6, 2007. He was born June 10, 1924 to Ellsworth John and Maggie Champion Sr., who have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty J. (Barnes) Champion in 1998. He was a U. S. Naval Air World War II Veteran and continued his service at U. S. Naval Avionics until his retirement. He also worked at the Indianapolis art museum. He was a member of the St. Luke''s United Methodist Church. John was a good husband, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He put up a great fight and will always be remembered as a kind and loving man. The family suffered a great loss and he will always be in their hearts. Ellsworth is survived by his daughter, Pat Higi; son Mike Champion (Charlotte); grandchildren, Tricia Champion, Angela Lane, Jennifer Champion Fox, and Paul Berg; great-grandchildren, Eddie Champion, Courtney Champion, Anthony Champion, and Scott Fox; great-great-grandchild, Aryanna Watson; brother-in-law, Bob Barnes. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
