Ethel 'Mimi' Louise (Salter) McCloud, Indianapolis, was called to Heaven on the early morning of Sunday, April 21, 2024. She was 97. She was born to Ernest Rueben Salter and Martha Ann (Grimes) Salter on May 4, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ethel was a mother first but had many occupations over the years to help raise her nine children. She was a wonderful mother and proud of all her children. She loved to play board games, dice and multiple card games. In her later years, she completed hundreds of puzzles. Ethel was a member of the T.O.P.S. club in the 60's and 70's. Her passion was singing, and she loved to entertain. Through the years she had many friends that were met through her various clubs. Ethel was always smiling and larger than life. She never met a stranger.
Survivors include Susan Lewis, Debra (Osborne) and Kenneth Smith, Matthew McCloud and Michele (Faison), Curtis McCloud and Lisa (Peavey). Three stepsons Chris, Greg and Colin McCloud and a son-in-law, Jerry Peters. She has 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was very proud of that and loved every one of them. She was truly a pillar of strength for the family. In her words, "The Lord has been good to me!"
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Eldora Kirkpatrick (Best friend) and Ruth Denny; brothers, Truman, Paul and Ernest Salter Jr.; husband, Clarence (Cloudy) McCloud; daughter, Barbara (Osborne) Peters; stepdaughter, Kathleen (McCloud) Scruggs and stepgrandson, Jason Scruggs.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Monday, April 29, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 also at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
