Eugene Carlton Nichols, 87, of Plainfield, passed away June 9, 2013. The son of Acie and Ethel Bradley Nichols, Eugene was born June 24, 1925 in Macon County, Tennessee.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired sprinkler fitter for Griesmer Sprinkler Co, retiring in 1986. Eugene was a 65 year member of Local 669.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. June 12, 2013 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to service time. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margie Fox Nichols of Plainfield; son, Carl D. Nichols of Indianapolis; daughters, Sherry A. Cotton of Southport, Karen Sue Peed of Poland, Mary J. (James) Clements of Indianapolis and Bonnie Lou Nichols of Plainfield; brothers, Henry C. Nichols of Avon and Ralph W. (Colleen) Nichols of Plainfield; sister, Betty (Jack) Robinson of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nichols.
